I knew Dave McKay and his family when they lived in Broken Hill, outback New South Wales in the mid 70's. I was with TF in Adelaide and we used to do road trips up to Broken Hill. The McKays were regarded as a 'friendly' place to stay. I always saw him as a bit of a 'wanna-be' - he had his writtings just like the MO letters, and he was a bit strict with his family - although the kids seemed sweet enough. Sometime later they did a 'faith walk' across the Nullabour Plain between Perth and Adelaide - even managed to get a photo included in a local tourist picture book - sort of his equivalent of the 'sack cloth and ashes' thing. It doesn't surprise me to see where they've ended up.
