Another sign is that the subject is geography, one of the few subjects the family was proud if its kids knew it. Since you have to "go into all the world" and all. Plus the US is of course so horrible and evil that you should know the rest of the world. And since US schools don't tend to be strong with geography, the cult seemed to like the subject even more, at least so they could pooh-pooh system school with something they sucked a little less at. Then once we leave, they keep chanting "oh the wonderful unique training you get from traipsing through all different countries and maybe even learning languages!" This sign is of course not conclusive, but adds to that side of the scale.

Something I think I could sense, as a former trained seal, was that this was something that would be bragged about a lot as a sign of superior training and "fruit". But when I think of the little hoops I was taught to jump through when performing (my whole childhood, it seemed had to be a performance, on display, a "good sample")and how that was then supposed to fuel my brain for the rest of my life...when as soon as I grew up enough to perform tasks, the work started to pile up and forget teaching me new things...

But those tricks aren't enough to make you know how to think critically, write an essay, develop considered opinions.

Whereas if the kid grows up and leaves and parents are still in TF, any degree she gets will be chalked up to how they trained her. Yeah.

As I think Lord Justice Ward realized, TF was oddly into tiny tots precouciously reciting things like long scriptures and other memorized things or performing "feats" for a group that would so sorely neglect its kid's education in the ensuing years.

I think a big driver for that lopsidedness has to do with the limited house cleaning, witnessing and childcare a 2-year old can do.
