That seems to be just a claim at this point, albeit one based on what the applicants believe to be a potential method of treatment and cure. At this stage it is just that--a potential, promising, but unfinalized method. It is a rather interesting development and something to keep an eye on, but no one has said it works without a doubt, or can be feasible--just that it might work based on what they've tried so far. They pantented it because if it does pan out, they want to be sure to cash in on it. That's not quite the same as "a cure for AIDS has been found."
When something is this new, it takes years of testing to determine if there are dangerous side effects, and if HIV/AIDS is truly in remission.
