Well upon reading the topic @ hand, I do believe that the study does have merit and should possibly be elaborated on, meaning that when they perform this research they should look into how old they were when they last received a spanking and to what severity the spanking was meaning where you smacked on the butt with a hand, or were you paddled, were you slapped across the face. I don't believe that if I swat my toddler on the behind to raise their awareness to the severity of the situation I have done anything wrong. I also feel that not every child can be treated or punished in the same fashion. Also once a child reaches a certain age then a swat on the bottom will no longer work, and reaching for a weapon (like a paddle) to further punish the child is not appropriate. Once you start leaving bruises or used something other then your hand on anything other then the bottom then you have crossed a line. I also feel that any time you are slapped across the face it is insulting and that is no better then being spit on. Which is something that at any age no child should have to endure.
Taken in the fact that this is such a controversial topic, I would like to say that this is only my thoughts and my opinions.
Have a great day. : )
