The conversation about eligibility for office based on place of birth is annoying to me. I hope you realize that there's endless chatter in the blogosphere about Obama's birth certificate being a forgery--that he was born in Kenya & not Hawaii, and is therefore ineligible for office? See:

How would you draw the line between discussing the implications of an established fact (McCain's birth in the Canal Zone) and the unsubstantiated claim that Obama's birth certificate is a forgery?

OK, so political blogs aren't the New York Times, but honestly, can we just accept that both candidates have been properly vetted by their respective parties and were nominated to run for office because they won the most votes in their respective primaries?

Here's why I tend to dislike political discussions on the exer sites: Some exers have very extreme, paranoid, and bigoted views that freak me out. Some of us are definitely a few fries short of a Bergie-boy happy meal when it comes to politics, and I don't feel comfortable hanging out where there's a lot of fear-mongering going on. And let's face it: political races are about fear-mongering and appealing to the electorate's baser instincts.

Which is why I have a low tolerance for the mindless regurgitation of sound bites from partisan ads. Pu-leeze! When I want to hear the talking points of the DNC or RNC, I can turn on CNN or FOX and get the propaganda straight from the talking heads myself.

OK. That's just my opinion about political discussion on this chat board. Hope I didn't offend with my straight talk, or arrogance, or whatever it is that is prompting me to act like a curmudgeon. Actually, it would be nice to have moderated political discussion on this site. I'm just concerned that it will generate more heat than light.
