Ok...I tried to distinguish between outright lies...the liar knows he/she's not saying the truth...Like when you're asked of tax-officers, whether you have anything to declare & you have just bought more gold or whatever else's amount is free to import & you are aware of it...even then, not realising something isn't really protecting oneself from getting prosecuted.

In your example you portray "grandmother Berg" as not really having become "healed" with divine help...I am not so sure about it myself anymore...I have read the hem of his garment in "the old days" & got the impression, that she thought to have been healed, meeting whatever conditions for healing...long time ago that I read it...

Now if she & D.B. (her son) would have plotted & said: now we gonna conspire in telling some story to make people marvel at us to get a following...I'd taken your point...but this is always risky, as there could always be people objecting to that invention, by being close friends/relatives.

The warning prophecy...& others...sorry, I forgot the contents...something with Memphis & skies red with warning...some would argue with self fulfilled prophecy...

I'd argue here, that D.B & his mother believed in the gift of prophecy...that they had it .I argue,
that that is exactly an example of blind leading the blind..,greatly deceived ones yet deceiving others...although if you just copy & paste Bible-prophecy, like I think it was the case with the warning prophecy, well, then you're not really the main author...it's a bit like "sound-mixing"
but I think they mentioned the Bible-verses at the bottom...there were many other "prophecies" - failed ones...of Berg--the "prophet--where we should have woken up!!!!

It wasn't the first time in history that people got deceived by someone "blind" & "tragic" to various degrees to have fallen victim to it.

What I meant though is, Berg sits in his selah-home with his "counsellors" & says, we can't tell TF that/or we ought to tell TF that, to get that result, so we tell them something which is actually not the case...a lie...(in contrast: how would you know beforehand if a prediction would be false)??

An anekdote you find by the way about Menno Simon,
the anabaptist...many were persecuted at that time for their belief & several murdered for that reason. They also searched for Menno. One day he supposedly sat on a horsewagon along with others
who were rather inside the carriage...the police at one point stopped the carriage & asked Simon being besides the "rider": is Simon on the carriage?...he turned to the travellers inside and asked: is Simon inside with you? They answered:
no...and they let that carriage go

Apparently he was criticised for that conduct...I don't know whether it's a true story or not.Point is: that was a classical deception, but not a lie.
Whether it would have been better to simply answer truthfully the officers question is really another matter.

That some stats were a bit too much on the positive side, anybody at grassrootlevel "knew"...the stats mostly came from the homes...so I don't mean all the inflated salvation stats etc. either
