It would be good for someone really learned & well advised in that subject, to highlight from the theological point of view, how much you can apply the proverbs admonitions on spanking your child given to the jewish people one to one on believers in the time & period of grace...quite a few people ...TF included...get into deep problems by not discerning at all who is adressed in a certain part & is that part really directly also meant for me now today??I know this is the genx-board & it can be shifted...all I mean is to raise the question, whether one is well advised to follow all that to the nth degree, especially since many countries make it anyway difficult to impossible to even apply corporal punishment.
I spanked virtually not at all my kids for various reasons...I did have my doubts every now & then, whether I did raise & discipline in the best way possible or whether I should have been "tougher" (physically) at times (e.g. with my son)...on the other hand, I think if one fumes like I did at times, reacting with a barrage of words...I wonder what that does to the soul/mind/heart of the kid...at the same time, raising kids is not all easy vacation and leisure time either...
