Interesting chops, Steffen Schackinger! His sound and layered phrasing style on that particular youtube clip reminded me of Eric Johnson. I checked his list of influences and sure enough Eric Johnson was on the list.
Eric Johnson is one of the most versatile guitarists, known for his tone. At times he'll sound like he's playing a cello or a Japaenese koto (sp?). I can definitely here him harnessing the sound of the wood in his instrument, not just the electronics. He's an audiophile and supposed to be able to tell if the battery in his pedal is 8.1 volts or 8.3 volts. You can get a variety of his sounds here:
