I think whether a web site stays online or gets pulled offline all depends on the life/lives of the owner(s) - if he/she/they can afford to keep it going. It's extremely hard on the psyche to keep on coming back to ex-member issues on a daily basis when you're actually trying to leave them behind for your own healing, sanity and personal growth and devlopment. A lot of it is about your time and energy, prioritizing what is important in your life.

I'm not fishing for thank-you's or compliments, but I can understand why someone could just have enough one day and feel the need to move on. This ain't no cheap hobby, and it's often a thankless job. There were times I sat up nights without sleep dealing with problems and work needed for this site. Working on this site has contributed to the demise of my normal working life. Although in recent years it's been a lot better, there were times when on vacation that I had to check in and see that things are running properly and to trouble-shoot the boards.

A few years back I made a decision that as long as I was involved with this site, I had to work at jobs that would allow for my committment to this cause, and I knew I had surround myself with people who would understand me. And I actually get a lot more understanding for what I do from people around who were never members, than ex-members themselves. As coordinators who wish to remain anoymous, we get accused of all kinds of things. People with transference issues treat us like we're WS.

In any case, things are running a lot smoother nowadays. At exFamily, we try to have a policy that we do only what we can afford to, and this has been helpful. If I don't get to some email within the same day, I don't worry about it anymore. I can't afford to. And this way, I am happy to keep on working here and providing this service.
