I'm not surprised the Soviets, and others not politically grouped so tightly at the time, long ago gave up on the Steady State "theory" of cosmology.

I'm not surprised measurable data lead conclusively elsewhere.

I am continually surpised that the so-called "singularity" of the "big bang" weak hypothesis so closely resembles a mimicry of the Judeo-Christian God of the Bible--exists before and above known and provable laws of physics (at least the measurable ones), creates "ex nihilo" (somehow makes for the possibility of positing a semi-deistic "ineffability", but somehow not a Theistic one---a Theistic one could interrupt its Own creation with "miracles", send a Savior, stuff like that--Oh-hh--that's why!)

Well, maybe not so surprised.

I have heard a lot of recent guff, university level, on a Hinduistic model of "Big Bang-Crunch-Bang--ad infinitum", but it has all the same philosophical problems and logical inconsistencies as the Big Bang.

Oh--I do like the new TV show called The Big Bang. I identify with the reasonable short nerd withe glasses, the foil of the taller and blindly arrogant one; even though I am 6'3" and 250 lbs, and a bit more of a jock in my past(football in HS, Karate, wrestling, long-distance running). I'm an arthritic cripple, now.

Hmmm. :-)

But I agree with your humorous reference to the TV show--can't stand the Brit, Snotty Simon; though I have nothing against Brits, per se.

Some of the stories are sweet. Lots of egomaniacs, though, and I find that funny, in a pitiful way.

I find egomaniacs of every stripe quite hilarious, wherever I find them; kind of an exer thing, I guess.
