My ex's family are angry about the money his parents spent and that theyre old, but this has always been the issue, his parents have spent hundred's of thousands giving to keep the kids clothed etc. they're not angry she's with me, for them it's a relief, that being said, not one of them offered to take her in!!!! and my ex and one of his sisters were drawn into the family early in the 80's my ex was 'kidnapped'by his father, and whisked away from them, his sister couldnt handle that she had to hate her family and then 15 years ago his younger sister had a go at living with the family. so they have a history, no matter that my ex's father still see's them as missionarys and doing gods work, i think he's in denial,
