    Here are 2 back-to-back Mo Letters by David Berg, founder of The Children of God/The Family/The Family International. Two pages are missing from the first Mo Letter--Family members cut it out of the book during a Lit Purge.
    In the first Mo Letter, Berg explains how the heavenly city of the book of Revelations in the bible with the dimensions 1500x1500x1500 miles, and which according to his own interpretation is pyramidal, and supposedly fits perfectly inside the moon (2160 miles in diameter). While surmising and calculating out loud, Berg suddenly declares it is a revelation from God: the heavenly city is in fact inside the moon.
    While Berg boasted of having an IQ of 160, spatial geometry and astronomy were obviously not his forte. He was a "Flatlander" limited to 2-dimensional thinking. Several members wrote in about errors in his calculations, pointing out that a pyramid of those proportions could not possibly fit in the moon, for its corners would protrude from the sphere.

    Berg immediately followed up his "revelation" with another Mo Letter in which he attacked all scientists collectively, saying they cannot possibly know the dimensions of the moon. Strangely however, he attributes this to the fact that the moon is too far away, 251,968* miles away - he credits them with being able to know the exact distance between the earth and moon.

*On average, the distance is 238,700 miles from the earth's center to the moon's center, and not 251,968 miles from surface to surface as Berg wrote. That figure was derived from the furthest point in the moon's elliptical orbit (225,745 miles at its closest and 251,967 miles at its furthest). Berg was informed enough to use such data, but deliberately misrepresented it to exaggerate his case - erroneously adding 21,096 miles to the equation - saying that the moon was too far away for us to know its actual size.

    Berg discredited astronomy and physical sciences, and said the lunar landings could have been staged, seemingly unaware of public domain experiments (meaning anyone with the right equipment can try this) to bounce lasers off retroreflector mirrors placed on the moon by Apollo 11, 14 & 15 astronauts, and Soviet-era Lunokhod rovers. By calculating the time it takes for lasers to be reflected back to earth from these mirrors, anyone—scientists and lay persons—can now determine the exact distance between the earth and moon down to millimeters. Using triangulation and trigonometry, we can also now determine the size of the moon very accurately, down to within millimeters.
    Due to Berg's tight control on what the average member could access in the way of reading and educational material, there is rampant misinformation amongst current and former members about astronomy, and space exploration. These links should provide some credible information about the moon.
