It was not matter of half-hearted discipleship at all, quite the contrary in fact. The Family was simply following the GNs of that time, which had begun to be written by Maria more and more. And they were all about de-emphasising the sexual side of things. There was even a GN, published around '92-'93 if I remember correctly, that specifically addressed the questions the teens had as to why all the freedoms had been taken away.

I think the first child abuse tract(1986)followed by the ban on FFing in '87, heralded the beginning of the end of sexual freedom as TF knew it, , and by 1989 this shift was well established. I would actually venture to say that the "free love" era began to wind down as early as 1983 after Ban the Bomb was published, which put an end to all inter-home sharing, including at Family get-togethers, NAFMs etc. Of course that didn't affect the in-home activities, but the seeds of change had begun to take root.

What went on WS could have been quite another matter though, and that is were Davidito lived during that time.

Anyhow, it's all very well documented and my personal experiences happen to reflect that change. And in case you find it hard to believe, a very recent GN addresses the problem of a "churchy, conservative attitude in regards to sex that has been prevalent in the Family recently". And just so you are aware, TF doesn't jump when the GNs say "jump!" quite as quickly as they used to.
