I agree exactly with your thoughts on salvation.
It is clear that Adam and Eve, Satan, several ancient kings and others fell from grace. So even if salvation is by grace and not dependant on works we can fall if we willfully reject the Lord and seek the devils rewards instead.
If a person is truly saved the lord is always there calling him to repentance but if we go on in our trespasses and stiffen our neck against him its bad news for us.
