Goth,

Compare the issue of FGs with Christianity. You have said very clearly that you are not religious, and being around fundamentalist Christians is not something you wish to participate in. So much abuse in the Family happened in the name of God, and for me anyways, being around aggressive Christianity creates trauma and stress and triggers things I don’t need in my life.

The same is true for FGs for me. The reality is that the people that hurt us were FGs. It was a communal environment and we were everybody’s children, and had to obey every Family adult without question. Whether or not that is factual, it’s the emotional perception I grew up with. Being around and interacting with FGs triggers nightmares, flashbacks, and panic attacks. While it’s helpful sometimes to dialogue, it has to be in my own time, on my own terms and when I feel ready. This is not a personal rejection, but my own PSTD.

While that reality may be cruel irony for you, it nevertheless is true for me. We all find our own paths to healing, and I wish you well with yours, and by the same token I need to do what is safe for me.

Jules
