First of all, hats off to you and your husband for your honesty and integrity. Sad about being fired yet again. Such is the nature of paying for your own past. (Please don't mention "karma" again!)
What does your husband do? Did he give his references as being connected to the F. in any way? Did he cite previous job experience as affiliated with anything F.? I ask because I realise it must be a hard thing to do both - to be honest about your past and say, "if the question ever comes up, yes I was in the F.", and to rightfully disconnect yourself from the F. since it was another whole life ago.
