About the discussion that "if someone was STILL in the Family at this point, that they were basically reprobate and a lost cause", that may not be fair statement at all when you consider recent departees like MG and his wife. They spent several decades in the group, and yet left and picked up the pieces to their lives, and made something out of themselves. MG is one of the most sensible, most relevant, most truly ex ex-members around. There are many examples of such recent departees who've been in all these years, and yet aren't leeches or hopeless cases. We have to remember that people who stay in out of choice aren't making good decisions because they aren't fully in their right minds, and their ability to move away is severely hampered by the cult's mind control methods.
