In general, I agree with the idea that we are already on the ground and we need to take care of the situation in spite of whatever mistakes were made. The military solution is one thing and when the need arises, things cannot wait. That is one reason where planning plays its important role. Another thing is the political situation, and that was a total disaster. Any american with a little selfrespect should be able to see that.

But looking at this analysis, many things have been left out. It may be true that there are some foreign fighters, but to imply that there are no national iraqies is too simplistic. After all, iraqies celebrate the remains of attacks on american positions. It is their country and the vast majority will not join the resistance but some will. To say that only foreigners are figting belittles the reality of human nature.

I don't know much about Germany's and France's connection to Iraq's Oil but what kind of oil reserves did they have? Were they allowed to get oil from other sources and what price did they have to pay for it? I don't know any of those things but I wonder if they were getting the oil they need or were they being strangled by the situation. I don't try to make excuses but after all this time, it is easy to see they were more right than wrong with theidea of initiating the war, even the US was imprepared for.

About OPEC fixing prices, that is their reason of being since their first days.

What a lot of people are missing is the geopolitical implications of Iraq's invasion. At least there is great silence about it but that is more important. The corridor from the Balkans to Pakistan is being opened to faciliate counteraction of the future/present nuclear threats from India and Pakistan. It is also a wall of separation between the old USSR and China on one side from the west on the other side. From that perspective Iraq's invasion makes sense, otherwise killing people to save them is of savages, morons, criminals and murderers.
