In this age of Internet

I think it very much used to be the case that Family members received a filtered version of the truth from the top, but tho they still do, these days every Family member has access to the Internet and if they really want to can find out the truth. Many have in fact accessed James Penn's articles and left the Family as a result -- or like the famous case of C, a Family member who quotes James' articles back to Maria and asked her if these things were so. But then, Family members are told NOT to search the Internet, so they don't do it until they get desperate to find out the truth and finally 'disobey' Maria.

About child abuse, Berg and Zerby convinced the Family that child abuse had never happened because "we don't lock them in basements and beat them with baseball bats, THAT is what real abuse is". What's the ML he said that in? It's like the old ML, "When is Sin Not Sin" they become convinced that "all things are pure" and sins are no longer sins and crimes are no longer crimes. Like the kids who visit the Wizard of Oz, they see the whole world though colored lens.

Years ago someone wrote, "Since the Family doesn't believe that child abuse and incest are sins, do they believe ANYTHING is a sin? Yes, you'll be pleased to know that suntanning and eating white sugar are horrible sins."
