It's good to know that Rick is not an orphan in death. I wish he could have felt more connected in life. What I mean by that is that there IS a worldwide family of choice who mourn his passing with much to say about him.
Sometimes people have to create their own family's in order to be validated and loved and learn to give it back. Lots of survivors of abuse have done that. Many rejected youth who were kicked out of their families for sexual orientation have done that. So have children from severely abusive families. It is still a loss not to have a safe family or origin, and something to be mourned.
Here's to healing and to family of choice.
