Your apologies may help alleviate some of the pain you helped originate. It is sad that the husbands of those sisters had that attitude and they should be among the first to apologize. It is a tragedy that they will not just kie all the others, Karen's and Berg's family, his successors in power and all of those in charge of enforcing their vicious rules.
