I don't blame Bush for the storm or that Louisiana is below sea level. But I am appalled by his slow response incl. his initial lax attitude not even being present as CNN was showing photos of civilians being plucked from rooftops. For that, I think Bush has some accountablity. After all, some military ships are floating cities themselves and could have disembarked the day after, providing better shelter.
The good I see coming out of this is maybe it will make people more aware of preparation for disaster. I know Houston too and remember growing up in the hill country around Austin and there was more awareness of shelters.
I think one thing most will agree on is that this is a terrible tragedy. I wish I could say all saw it that way.
