"I can't do much about the fact that you don't like me personally or my style of communication. One reason I post from many perspectives and nicks is to stay focused on issues, not personalities."

>Where my comments come from? They come from things like when someone discusses something they are dealing with like Asperger's in a family, and then you write about Maria having Asperger's, or when you write in a condescending manner as if to educate people, it bugs me. That is how it comes across. You seem to have a double standard of who can say what. Personally, I just am about at a point where I don't even want to post at exer sites anymore. Many many handles, some with differing opinions and with comments that seem like a mind f**k, may be something I am reading into things. If that be the case then I am sorry.

"I would prefer that you should stick the the issues I've raised, rather than attack me personally. However, if you want to deal with whatever you imagine my personal agenda happens to be, perhaps you should take it offline with an email? Achiek can give you my addy."

>I did get a bit personal with my comment. I get frustrated with going to exer sites where I think there is more of a common ground and many people who have gotten away from their past cult thinking than you seem to give people the credit for. I don't want your addy. TY though. I will keep in mind that what I wrote to you may not fit the guidelines of this board and if that is so I will watch my p's and q's if I post anymore.

"In the meantime, try thinking about why the content of what I have to say annoys you so much. Take me to task on that, and I'll feel like I accomplished something, and that was to get a formerly brainwashed cult member to exercise some critical thinking skills."

>You do not inspire me to exercise critical thinking skills. Frankly, it seems a bit grandiose to me that you see yourself as the enlightener of souls with your posts. Maybe for some you are, but not for me.

"There is racism in the deep south as well as every state in the union. I think I said that. Nevertheless, my family of origin is from the deep south and I'm entitled to my observations about how covert racism works down there."

>I don't believe I lectured you anywhere on how you should think or what you politics or religion or anything else should be.

"The main point of my post was to note that the issue of race in the United States is compounded by the fact that race & poverty are highly correlated. Since when is poverty a strictly political issue? When we decided that to talk about it is too embarrassing because the power brokers in Washington have politicized it along certain lines of party loyalty? Please don't assume that because I raise the topic of race & poverty that I'm some liberal who thinks welfare is the answer, because I'm not."

>Your politics are yours. I don't lecture you on yours. I try to avoid political debate at exer boards. It generally is more hurtful than helpful since post cult we have many different political persuasions, religions, no religion etc.

"It's no secret that the RNC has had a strategy of playing on southern racist attitudes since the late 1970s by stirring up sentiments against "welfare queens" as a way to get votes."

>Again, political ravings aren't something I want to get into at an exer board. I save my opinions on that for political chats or talk amongst friends.

"The current RNC Chair Ken Mehlman recently apologized in a speech to leaders in the African American community on that score. So what was that all about? Maybe because they're going after the votes of middleclass African Americans and Mr. Mehlman needs to heal some mighty sore wounds?"

>again, no desire to discuss politics here. But that is just me.

"By the way, I vote Republican. Sorry you don't like my brand of conservatism or that the fact that I'm not a 100% sold out right-wing ideologue who never questions the covertly racist rhetoric of Banana Republicans or the liberal economic policies of Bush Republicans."

>Why are you apologizing to me? Or assuming to know how I vote or think? Like I said, it isn't why I go to exer boards. But it may be why I stop going. Of course that would solely be my choice based on doing what is right or helpful for me personally and only for me. I guess I am thinking critically. ;)

So maybe you can tell me that most people here know who all of you -is- and it comes across as a mind f**k to me because I think they don't know? Maybe that is part of my frustration. If that is the case then if you want to, tell me, because then my way of thinking about you would be very different.
