Family members' drive to win souls has nothing to do with theology or doctrine. In my opinion, the drive comes because "saving souls" is the only thing they do that appears to others to be even remotely altruistic.
"Saving souls" is the one thing they can do that allows them to pat themselves on the back and feel that they are useful to the world. "See, the Family can't be bad, look at all the souls we are winning -- what are YOU doing for the Lord".
"Saving souls" allows them to look like they are actually accomplishing something and their existance isn't entirely futile.
If not for "saving souls" what else is there but to sit around and wait for the "endtime" so they can save the world.
