just to clarify - sure, in the army you are expected to obey your superiors, but that doesn't mean you can't talk to someone if you don't like something that is being done. And the recruit knows exactly what they are getting into and accept it. Plus, if there is truly something abusive going on or just not right, there are avenues of recourse, military tribunals, etc.
