a light reading might discover that everybody agrees with the definition of torture but looking at the way some words are defined, the image changes. the core of the argument is in the meaning of the word "severe".
i don't believe in that laws can ever be just when judges interpret them with an active agenda. what people did to children in the family is clearly bad and most of it was torture. their own children deny that it took place ...on them!
without getting into politics, all the suffering and pain that some inflict on others around the world is torture and the vast population has been gradually insensitized to all of that. the same thing happens in the family and they are still denying it.
