Does the Family have rules which would apply to people with AIDs in a way that would cause them to live outside of their community?

I mean, I understand the need to not have their communal sex with insider adults and spread what someone is known to have be it AIDS, Chlamydia, HPV, Gonorrhea, Syphillus, Hepatitis Alphabet soup and so on. Or are all these diseases treated similarly?

As far as contagion goes, I don't understand why a family could not live within a commune of other Family members because of having AIDS. You don't get it from toilet seats, hugging and you shouldn't be using other people's razors or toothbrushes though that would not necessarily transmit the virus.

You can't get it from everyday life around someone. I know that for a fact. I have worked with people who have full blown AIDS and some who are HIV positive and I have had a roommate who had full blown AIDS.

We shared the same bathroom. We ate after each other and drank from the same glass at times. I didn't get AIDS. You don't get it like that.

I think it is sad that people in the Family fear AIDS with all the knowledge that is out there about it now.

I also think it is weird that the people you knew got AIDS from blood transfusions firstly because getting blood transfusions is so rare to begin with. It is strange to me that both that you knew got AIDS that way.

People can be exposed to the virus that causes AIDS years before becoming symptomatic. I would hope that the Family is now getting educated and educating their youth on STD's-- the facts.
