I feel the same about the movies and liking or not liking a persons' acting ability separate from their religion.
I have concerns about Scientology though because it is a pyramidical sort of structure where you buy into levels of truth and some of it's former member describe it in a way that seems similar to "The Firm". I know that the South Park episode brought serious threats against the creators of the show. Also, people that have challenged them publically have indicated a more sinister sorts of repercussions. "Cult Awareness Network" was taken over by them after the law-suited the organization to death. Scientology got their name and even their records on file.
People have died while under their care for Scientology approved treatment of mental disorders or addictions where they see the problem as warring body thetans or something like that.
I think they are pretty creepy but I still like to watch Cruise in movies even though I don't like what his religion is doing to him.
Financial abuse is a biggie with their organization.
I don't think they are as broadly criminal as the Family is. They don't live communally with instructions on the way they should do everything including how to wipe their ass.
