I have some longstanding problems I am trying to come to terms since leaving TFI. I will be posting about them one at a time, to find out how other exers are coping with these issues, if they are issues for them at all. I would be surprised if they aren't.

Ever since I have left, I have trouble understanding religion as something that can be taken in moderation. Religion and fanaticism are almost synonymous to me. I see "normal" Christians able to believe in Jesus without being under condemnation for being lukewarm or failing to dedicate their life to preaching the gospel. They don't feel compelled to drop out and forsake all and wait for Jesus to come back. It's not like don't have any convictions because they do. But how do they manage to have convictions without taking them to extremes? I don't know how to believe in something without acting out on it, with all this stuff drummed into me about show your faith with your works. Can anyone else here relate to what I'm talking about?

On seeing the recent discussions, I should mention that people like Farmer scare me. To me he is more fanatical than most exers and he makes me want to have nothing to do with whatever it is he believes in.
