CB:

I'm glad that you picked a "little Vineyard plant in [your] neighborhood". There are some big city ones that are decidedly different from that kind.

I was ata a "church start" ina small totwn nearby for a while, in the early '90s, adn enjoyed that a lot--good intimate l;ife-affirming fellowship.

The main Houston Vineyard hosted a presentation for love146.org--very dramatic. There was also a woman there, about 40, who had escaped slavery/prostitution, selling artclies that helped such women. Turns out she know someone I do who is a local Sociology teacher who has students infiltrate local establishments engaging in such trade, and make reports for a grade!

Houston Vineyard also supports a lot of missions work--in Mexico, Chile, Colombia, Central Asia and China, Turkey internationally, along with regular prayer for each, and each part of the world (and orphanage support goes in there somewhere!), and nationally prayer for regular small groups in people's home during the week; with "benevolence ministries" helping people out financially for different stuff--I know someone who had $1500 spent on them for emegency surgery of some kind. They paid for half a car repair and half my rent a couple of times ove rthe 35+ years I've been there.

More later--I'm at work--the kids I supervise are waking up, now!
