Do you personally know any Muslims? As neighbors or co-workers or (gasp) even as friends?

The fact that Pres Obama's middle name is that of her paternal grandfather, who happened to be a Muslim convert, doesn't prove anything other than the current president of the United States has a Muslim cultural background. The fact that he didn't drop his middle name or change it suggests that he isn't shamed of where he came from.

Should he be? Let's imagine for a moment that Pres Obama is a secret Muslim--a practicing Muslim who proclaims Mohammed as Allah's prophet and that the name of God is Allah. If that is the case, so what? Does that make him a Muslim extremist? Does being an American Muslim mean by default that the individual has divided loyalties?

I personally know, work with, and live in a neighborhood with Muslims. I have actually had (gasp) a Muslim friend from Indonesia. There's nothing that any of these Muslim Americans say or do that makes me think they place loyalty to the international Muslim brotherhood over their loyalty to the United States. In fact, if you were to be so bold as to ask any of them where their loyalties lie, they'd probably get a bit insulted that you think they are not loyal citizens.

This is the same kind of prejudice that American Catholics faced when Pres Kennedy was elected. Were their primary loyalties to Rome and the Pope or to the United States? I think there's little question about the answer to that.

The attitude toward Muslims that your posts seem to reflect feels a lot like the McCarthy era witch hunts that branded liberal Jews as "commies," especially those with a Russian cultural heritage.

Or what about the Japanese Americans during World War II. In hindsight, was it did we respect their freedom as US citizens and do them justice by internment camps?

Let's imagine for just a minute that these groups--Japs, commie Jews, Irish Catholics and now Muslim Americans--actually pose some form of a threat to US security. Does that mean every individual in those groups is guilty by association? Does the fact of Obama's middle name make him more inclined to treason than any other elected official?

BTW, if Obama really is a secret Muslim, what type is he? Sunni? Shia? Sufi?
