One of the most spiritual people I know is Julia McNeil. She is an atheist. That doesn't prevent her from thinking deeply about life and what it means to be a human being. She also lives courageously with great compassion for others. As an atheist, Julia has argued that she can't be spiritual, because her definition of that word implies a belief in the supernatural. To me, being spiritual is simply allowing yourself to live as an authentic human being. Many people who claim religious belief aren't as authentic, courageous or compassionate as Julia.
