I think you are going way over the top here in your fears. No family teen has ever made of with a strangers child,,,ever,,no matter how sad they were. If they did all the people who post here would all say that's what was probably going to happen as they were all once family members themselves. (Haven't read any of them saying that here)
You don't have to help the family or even have anything to do with them for that matter. I think that's your best bet.
I reckon the person who wrote the above post has not been in contact with a family member for a very long time. The things mentioned in the above post have been mostly out of date in the family for a very long time.
And before you all get your nickers in a twist, I am not a family member, and have not been for over 5 years, so save your venom for something worthwhile!
