To CB (and all):

I have begun to attend a Four Square Gospel church with friends, during the “90 Days” that my pastors forbade me to be on their Prayer Team (emphasis on “their”!).

I differ a little from Farmer, though I really love him as/like a brother in every way. I understand ex-TFers aversion to out-of-control, fake and even demonic “charismata” gifts.

But the real exists, too, as Pastor Don and other exers will attest to.

The church I visited, Victory Christian Center, in Houston, Texas has been using a book called Treasure Hunts, by a guy named Kevin Dedmon, from Bethel Church in Redding, California ().

Simply put, praying and asking God for simple revelational gifts, and then going out where He leads works, like it always has.

For me, Treasure Hunt was amazing--a very practical way to get people used to hearing from God through gifts of the Spirit; most commonly words of knowledge. Most were very accurate (with practice and encouragement one gets more so), after a long time of worship and quietness before the Lord (an hour or so). Then the leader, -----, picked teams, WITHOUT reading anyone's list--the words still matched; pretty much, to a very high degree, when each team member compared notes. Then we all went our separate ways. She matched me with ----- -----, and this other lady. That evening, from 6:30 to 8:30 or so, we found almost everything we heard, or thought we did, from the Lord, and got to pray for a lot of very receptive people.

We started paying at 4:00, and met back at the church at 9:00, where everybody shared testimonies. The leader, -----, shared what her team had heard--strange things like "Mall--kiosk--smoke--man". In the mall, when they walked by a kiosk selling those new electronic cigarettes, they approached a guy manning it. When they asked if he had anything they could pray for, he said that he was totally deaf in one ear, and had had a tractor roll over him during his childhood, resulting in severe back pain all of his life. They asked to pray for him, initially with no results, but the second time his deaf ear went, "POP!", and opened up, healed--creative miracle. Then he asked for prayer for his back, and it was also healed very dramatically! So, he asked Jesus to come into his heart, all by himself!

We were about to leave the church after that story, and I reminded the guy who had approached me the previous week, on my first visit to the church (the Four Square Church which has had a continuous revival since 1994, which I mentioned earlier) having had, with several others, a word of knowledge of “man with beard” and pain in both knees”—no initial results then).

This time I asked if everyone could pray again for my knees. The same thing happened initially this time as for the guy with the ear and the back pain (no initial results), but the second time they prayed really fervently, and I feel this warmth I first thought was just from all of their hands, but then it felt more like a vibration, or something actually growing, and I jumped up and did thirty or forty squats; something I haven't been able to do in many, many years! Hallelujah!

Seriously. I have new knees.
