Actually no, it is aimed at a capitalistic public but uses a communist society as an example of how similar the final behavior is.
In one case (communism), there are few products and therefore few choices. In a capitalist society with overabundance of products the choice seems to be endless and yet the final choice seems to be controlled by the advertisement apparatus.
I had a lot of choice in TF but I normally settled for what the Letters or the leaders said. I was not alone, everybody did it and so there was great peer pressure. Some may say that there was no much choice in TF, I disagree. We were conditioned to disregard many choices and took the "narrow" road to only the few approved choices but the selection of choices were there.
