This topic is so deep it's hard to know where to begin a response. I want to play devil's advocate for a minute.
One man's liberty is another's oppression. Or to think about it another way, one person's persuasion is another's coercion. People I might consider oppressed may not see themselves that way. I think this is particularly true for people living in high demand groups: Many will tell you that all the rules and restrictions are actually a way to liberty from selfishness & interpersonal ocnflict.
I often wonder where the line is drawn between limiting my individual freedoms for the good of the whole and the stifling of individual liberty and community well-being for the sake of someone's need for power and control.
I suppose it's like pornography: I don't know how to define it, but I know it when I see it.
